Walk before snug

HAVE A WALK BEFORE CAKE!

Having a walk is easy around the quiet Whitehill House Estate. Browse our favourite walks below.

Suggested Walk 1: Cafe to Whitehill House (Easy)

A super easy walk for those less able, or in wheelchairs or even pushchairs! Park beside the cafe and carry on walking along the quiet Whitehill House Estate road, downhill, over the stone bridge and the massive Giant Redwood trees (touch the amazing soft bark!) to the Tudor-revival splendour of Whitehill House itself. Retrace steps back to the cafe.

Takes 15-20 mins return.

Suggested Walk 2: Circular Walk (Moderate)

From the car park turn right and walk back to the Estate gate. Turn left and follow the farm track past Rosewell Public Park. At park end, turn left and go slightly downhill on a larger farm track, past the houses over a bridge, and the horse fields on either side of the track.

At junction with signs for Hunter Holiday Cottages, go straight on (follow yellow sign - shown in photo above for Whitehill House), over a cattle grid with a golf hole on your right and come up close to the Tudor-revival splendour of Whitehill House itself. Go through green gate and simply follow the main Estate road past the front of the House, past the Giant Redwood trees (touch the amazing soft bark!) and over the stone bridge, back towards the snug.

Takes 30-40 mins.

Suggested Walk 3: Longer Circular Walk (Moderate)

From the car park turn right and walk back to the Estate gate. Turn left and follow the farm track past Rosewell Public Park. At park end, turn left and go slightly downhill on a larger farm track, past the two houses, and the horse fields on either side of the track.

At junction with signs for Hunter Holiday Cottages, turn right up a slight hill. At T-Junction turn left, past a handsome house on the right. and carry straight on at the next junction.

Follow this muddy track right around the side of the golf course. As track comes down to a wood, turn left onto a small path on the left side of the track that skirts the golf course. Follow this path around the golf course and over the long wooden bridge down in the ravine. Just past the ravine stay to the right of the fence that climbs the steep hill beside the 2nd hole of the golf course.

Follow the path trough the wood bearing slightly left, back towards the snug, where a well earned coffee and cake awaits!

Takes 45-55 mins.
